Thousands of devotees thronged lanes of the State capital on Sunday to watch the Ganesh idol immersion. Though about 8,000 big idols were to be immersed on the Sunday, the 11th and final day, it was Balapur and Khairatabad idols that attracted the attention of devotees as ever.

About 25,000 police men have been stationed for security. Equipped with vehicles tagged with GPS devices and 1,000 networked video-cameras, police kept a close eye on the revellers. Mr Dinesh Reddy, the Director-General of Police (DGP), made an aerial survey of the procession.

Processions in different parts in the city were peaceful at the time of filing this report.
