The Uttar Pradesh government on Sunday gave a fresh breather of 18 months to complete nine power projects to be set up by private parties through MoU with the state government.
The MoU to set up the projects was signed during previous Mayawati government and was to expire on June 10.
Work on the projects is yet to commence.
The decision was taken in a meeting of Energy Task Force (ETF) headed by Chief Secretary Mr Javed Usmani.
Nod for establishing a 660 MW thermal power unit at Harduaganj power plant was also given.
Establishment of maximum capacity thermal power project at Panki was also discussed in the meeting.
“It was decided to ask technical advisor to prepare report on possibilities of establishing maximum capacity thermal power project at Panki,” said Mr AK Gutpa, Industrial and Infrastructure Development Commissioner (IIDC).
Jawaharpur Thermal project has been given go ahead to start work after environment clearances by the concerned ministry, he said.
The ETF recommended to establish thermal power project at Obra C project under Uttar Pradesh state Power Generation Corporation Limited, besides permission has also been given to 90 km 220 KV Jhansi-Lalitpur-Lalitpur switch yard line construction and 220 KV substation at Lalipur, Mr Gupta said.
Principal Secretary Planning, Mr RP Singh, MD UP Power Corporation Limited Mr Avnish Awasthi also took part in the meeting.
