Small and medium enterprises (SME) associated with the printing and packing industry should look at assimilating new technology in order to enhance growth in the market.
According to K. S. Khurana, President of IPAMA (Indian Printing Packaging and Allied Machinery Manufacturers’ Association), the printing industry in the country, valued at approximately $16 billion (Rs 86,400 crore at current exchange rates) has been growing at nearly 10-15 per cent on a year-on-year basis.
Packaging industry in the country comprises of 700 players and nearly 95 per cent come from small and medium sector.
Digital revolution
“With the advent of digital technology in pre-press, press and post-press, India shall be one of the leading countries having huge market and resources. The SME sector should gear up for assimilating the new technology and be a part of this revolution,” he said at a press meet to announce the 11th edition of Print Pack India 2013 exhibition here on Tuesday.
Many visitors
The exhibition, to be held at Greater Noida from February 23, is aimed at projecting Brand India and its designs and products to the global markets.
It is also aimed at protecting the interest of players in the domestic small-scale printing and packaging sector.
“The event witnessed 50,000 visitors last year, it is expected to see 70,000 footfalls this year,” Khurana said.
