After tasting a cup of good filter coffee, one would swear by the cuppa. But here was coffee Evangelist Merlin Raj of Cafe Coffee Day, sharing tips on making a good cuppa.
Showcasing the range of CCD’s specialised coffee blends and coffee-making tools such as the ‘French Press’ and ‘Stovetop Expresso’, the ‘Coffee Day WakeCup’ — a coffee brewing system using capsule technology to produce a glorious cup of coffee in 30 seconds — Raj showed-off his latte (patterns made in the foam topping the espresso drink) art skills.
Art formBrewing coffee is an art, asserted Raj, kick starting CCD’s Coffee Festival in Coimbatore.
The festival is on till September 14.
The two CCD outlets in the city — at Brookefield shopping mall and on Race Course Road — will be hosting this month-long festival.
Indian coffee is balanced, although Brazil tops in production.
Customer preferenceMajority of Indians prefer Arabica, which has more flavour and less caffeine, said this coffee-making expert, while emphasising the importance of brewing time.
Apart from preparing the brew, Raj also conducted a session on coffee-tasting.
CCD has a network of 1,600 outlets of which 360 are located in the South.
