Tea prices for almost all the varieties continued to witness a downward trend at Kochi auction for the last few consecutive weeks .
In Sale No.24, the quantity on offer in the CTC dust category was 12,52,500 kg. The market for good liquoring teas was lower by Rs 2-3. Others were lower by Rs 5 or more following quality. There was a better export enquiry on grainier varieties.
The quantity on offer in the orthodox dust grades was 19,000 kg. The market for primaries was steady, while others were irregular and lower. Exporters were the main stay on orthodox dust grades.
In the best CTC dusts, PD varieties quoted Rs 102/120, RD grades fetched Rs 101/124, SRD ruled at Rs 110/136 and SFD stood at Rs 108/145.
Of the quantity of 157,000 kg on offer in the Orthodox leaf grades, the market for Nilgiri brokens and Fannings were irregular and lower. Bolder brokens and whole leaf from the same origin firm to dearer.
Well-made, clean, black, medium bolder brokens, tippy grades barely remained steady and tended to ease. Whole leaf was irregular and sometimes easier.
The quantity of offer in CTC leaf was 84,000 kg and the market was irregular and lower by Rs 3-5 and witnessed a good export enquiry.
In the dust category, Injipara Prm SRD fetched the best prices of Rs 150. In the leaf grades, Chamraj FOP-S Green tea quoted the best prices of Rs 300.
