The Sardar Sarovar Dam on river Narmada began overflowing here today following heavy rainfall in the catchment area. The dam had overflowed in September last year. The water was flowing at a level 122.04 meters over the dam, which is 121.92 metres high, dam officials said.
“A moment to rejoice. The Sardar Sarovar Dam has started overflowing again. This scene is always spectacular,” the Gujarat Chief Minister, Mr Narendra Modi, said on twitter. According to the dam officials, the water inflow was over 95 thousand cusecs since morning.
