This Valentine’s Day, you can gift to your sweetheart something unheard of before -- tea packet! It is not an ordinary gift because this Valentine’s gift pack has the choicest speciality tea manufactured from the leaves handpicked from a single garden in the highly-suitable winter climatic conditions at 6,400-feet elevated Billimalai Estate in the Nilgiris.
“These gift-packs come with the logo: ‘100% Love with 0% Calories’ to mix Valentine’s Day with health. The bright-red pack has romantic ribbon with cupid drawings tastefully lacerated in the background,” G. Udayakumar, Director, Bluegate Beverages Avataa tea specialists, told Business Line .
The pack has 25 gm each of Avataa green, white and black multi-brew teas. Of them, Avataa white tea is from a single-leaf-and-bud with distinct silvery tips and soothing after-taste and Avataa twirl green teas are vibrant golden green leaves. These teas bundled into attractive bags are kept inside the pack. Guidelines to prepare the top quality multi-brew tea are attached to each bundle. Each such pack is priced at Rs 750. “These high-end teas have fetched Rs 5,000-6,000 a kg at the speciality tea auctions. Being multi-brew teas, they yield around 150 cups which means, for Rs 750, as Valentine’s Day gift, consumers can enjoy each cup for just Rs 5. These teas have a shelf life of two years,” Udayakumar said.
“The Tea Board had distributed these teas during London Olympics. They have won recognitions in global meets. Avataa multi-brew Virgin Green tea from Bluegate Beverages fetched the highest price among green teas at Rs 6,011 a kg at the last speciality tea auction. So, they make proud possession in the hands of the young couple this Valentine’s Day”, Tea Board Member S. Ramu noted.
“This is an innovative value-added endeavour keeping with the times. It helps to introduce young couple to those teas which researchers have hailed to be good for health. As tea is symbol of hospitality and there is need to wean youth from alcohol and health-affecting drinks, this Valentine’s Day will open a new healthy way”, he said.
