Fluctuation in global arabica coffee prices impacted Arabica Plantation PB and A grade coffee prices and traded Rs 400 lower at Rs 11, 200 (for 50-kg bag) compared to last week prices (Rs 11,600) at the Indian Coffee Trade Association (ICTA) auction held on Thursday.

According to auctioneer J Thomas & Company, of the 152,771 lakh kg (Arabica comprised 1,20,929 lakh kg and Robusta 31,842 kg) offered for sale, only 52,000 kg were sold.

Of the new season (2011-12) crop on sale, Arabica Plantation B grade coffees received enquiry at current price levels, C grade remained unsold (only a limited quantity of Arabica Plantation coffees were sold). Arabica Cherry coffees on offer remained unsold as seller's price expectation were much higher than the buyer's interest.

Where as Robusta Parchment coffees on offer continued to receive good support, domestic trade were active on PB grade while the exporters were active on AB, AA, RKR & C grade and were sold at price similar to last sale date, C grade sold at current price levels. There was no new season Robusta Cherry coffees on offer.
