The annual general meeting of the Central Arecanut and Cocoa Marketing and Processing Cooperative (Campco) Ltd has given its approval for marketing of FMCG, cashew and coconut products.
The meeting was informed on Saturday that a new clause has been included in its bye-laws to widen the marketing network and diversification process.
Suresh Bhandary, Managing Director of Campco, informed the meeting that till now the co-operative’s bye-law did not permit it to market products in other segments such as FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods), coconut oil and cashew nuts that have good demand in the market.
Campco aims to better utilise its marketing network by including other agri-related products, as such a move will help bring down the cost of marketing also, he said.
SR Satishchandra, Campco’s President, said that many companies outsource the work to others and market the products in their brands. In fact, Campco produces chocolates for some other brands.
