India’s coffee exports rebounded in November after witnessing a fall in the first month of the 2011-12 coffee year, rising by 22 per cent to 19,403 tonnes.
Exports stood at 15,927 tonnes in the same month of the 2010-11 coffee year (October-September), according to Coffee Board data.
Overseas shipments had declined by 20 per cent to 19,195 tonnes in October of the 2011-12 coffee year from 24,119 tonnes in the year-ago period.
Overall, exports during October-November of 2011-12 coffee year were down 2 per cent at 38,598 tonnes compared with 39,448 tonnes in the same period last coffee year.
However, price realisation rose 38 per cent to Rs 1,46,007 per tonne in October-November of 2011-12 coffee year compared with Rs 1,06,041 per tonne in the same period of the previous coffee year.
In value terms, earnings rose 13 per cent to Rs 185.18 crore in November 2011, from Rs 163.24 crore in the same period of the previous year. The earnings stood at Rs 581.22 crore in October-November of the current coffee year against Rs 460.68 crore in the year-ago period.
In the first eight months of the current fiscal, coffee exports rose to 2,28,578 tonnes from 1,96,290 tonnes in April-November last fiscal.
During January-November 2011, outbound shipments rose to 3,27,662 tonnes from 2,66,759 tonnes in the same period last year.
India mostly exports coffee to Italy, Germany, the Russian Federation, Belgium and Spain.
