A volume of 9.64 lakh kg has been catalogued for Sale No: 13 to be held on Thursday. This is 48,000 kg more than last week’s offer. Of this, 6.44 lakh kg belongs to leaf grades and 3.20 lakh kg, dust grades. As much as 8.75 lakh kg belongs to CTC variety and only 89,000 kg, orthodox variety. The proportion of orthodox teas continues to be low in both leaf and dust grades. In the leaf counter, only 54,000 kg belongs to orthodox while 5.90 lakh kg, CTC. Among the dusts, only 35,000 kg belongs to orthodox while 2.85 lakh kg, CTC.
The Broken Orange Pekoe Fanning of Homedale Estate, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped the CTC auction last week when Shreeji Traders bought it for ₹235 a kg. The Broken Pekoe grade of Homedale Estate, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, followed at ₹230 in the Leaf tea auction.
In the CTC Dust tea auction, Homedale Estate’s two grades, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped at ₹232 and ₹231.
