A volume of 15.50 lakh kg is being offered for Sale No: 50 of Coonoor Tea Trade Association auction to be held on Thursday and Friday. This is some 20,000 kg more than last week’s offer. Of this, a volume of 10.86 lakh kg belongs to the leaf grades and 4.64 lakh kg belongs to the dust grades. As much as 2.49 lakh kg of such teas are being re-offered this week. Among CTC teas last week, Homedale Estate tea, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped when Oswal Tea Traders bought it for ₹201 a kg. Kairbetta topped the Orthodox market at ₹244 a kg. There was scanty purchase for Pakistan in a wide range of ₹54-73 a kg.
