The Cotton Association of India has placed the cotton crop for the 2013-14 season beginning October 1 at 375 lakh bales (of 170 kg each).
This is the second estimate made by the association.
The association had estimated the 2012-13 crop at 356.75 lakh bales. "Crop conditions have since improved. If the weather remains conducive, it could further improve the crop during the 2013-14 season," says Dhiren N. Sheth, President, CAI.
