Haryana State Federation of Cooperative Sugar Mills on Monday declared that the crushing season for cooperative sugar mills in the state will commence from tomorrow.

There are at least ten sugar mills in the cooperative sector in the state, an official spokesman said. These are located at Panipat, Karnal, Rohtak, Sonipat, Jind, Shahabad, Meham, Kaithal, Palwal and Gohana.

He said that the expected sugar cane production would be 471 lakh quintals (LT). It was expected that sugar mills in the Cooperative sector would crush 349 LT of cane.

The sugar cane growers of the state would earn extra income due to increase in cane prices for the season, 2013-14.

The price of sugarcane has been fixed as Rs 276 per quintal for early, Rs 271 per quintal for mid maturing and Rs 266 per quintal for late maturing varieties, the spokesman said.
