A delay in the arrival of new crop arrivals, contrary to expectations, has triggered a bullish sentiment in the small cardamom markets, aiding a price rise, albeit marginal.

The weekly auction average moved up to 972.30 a kg from ₹962.73 a kg the previous week. Total arrivals during the current season up to June 24 were at 19,035 tonnes and sales were at 18,102 tonnes.

Prices today at Bodinayakanur, the main trading hub for the aromatic spice, were (in ₹/kg): 8mm bold: 1,300-1,350; 7-8mm: 1,150-1,180; 6-7mm: 900 ; below 6 mm: 825-850. Medium bulk was being traded at ₹1,000 a kg.
