Fresh demand sweetens sugar bl-premium-article-image

Sugar prices turned positive with gain of ₹10-20 a quintal on the back of improved demand at market and mill level. On the Vashi market, prices were up ₹10-15 while Naka rates increased by ₹10-30 tracking firm mill tender rates. A wholesaler said that taking support of fresh retail/bulk demand, the volumes increased at mill and market levels. Maharashtra’s producers sold higher volume at ₹10-20 higher lifting Naka trade prices by over ₹20. Arrivals at Vashi market were 59-60 truck loads and local dispatches were 61-62 loads. On Thursday evening, about 24-25 mills offered tenders and sold 75,000-80,000 bags at ₹2,560-2,660 (₹2,550-2,660) for S-grade and ₹2,680-2,780 (₹2,660-2,780) for M-grade.

The Bombay Sugar Merchants Association’s spot rates: S-grade ₹2,700-2,862 (₹2,692-2,862) and M-grade ₹2,792-2,955 (₹2,810-2,952). Naka delivery rates: S-grade ₹2,650-2,750 (₹2,640-2,720) and M-grade ₹2,770-2,900 (₹2,740-2,870).
