Coffee shipments globally dipped by 10 per cent to 7.99 million bags in January 2012 compared with 8.87 million in January 2011. For the 12 months ended January 2012, coffee exports stood at 103.49 million bags against 98.16 million bags in the same period of the previous year.

The global body on coffee has also revised its production estimate in the 2011-12 coffee year. The output is expected to decline 1.3 per cent to 132.4 million bags in 2011-12 from 134.2 million bags in the previous coffee year.

ICO said coffee production could be affected in the 2011-12 crop year due to adverse weather.
