Harrisons Malayalam Ltd has received the CII Southern Region Environment, Health and Safety Award for its tea factory in Wentworth, and rubber factories in Kumbazha and Nagamallay for the year 2014.
Earlier, the company also obtained Ethical Tea Partnership certifications (which is recognised by EU markets) for Lockhart, Pattumalay, Wentworth, Wallardie and Moongalar estates and Rain Forest Alliance certification and Trustea certification for its Wentworth Estate and Pollution Control award for Kumbazha latex factory.
According to N Dharmaraj, Chief Executive, sustainability has been an integral part of farm management practices in HML tea plantations. Being EHS certified, is a further reassurance to the commitment to environment, workplace safety, product quality and safety, he said.
