Spot pepper prices fell on Monday on selling pressure, market sources told BusinessLine . Harvesting has reached its full swing in Idukki and Wayanad districts of Kerala, while it has just begun in Karnataka. Imported pepper is also available at lower prices. Buyers have slowed down anticipating further decline in the prices, they said. On the terminal market, 47 tonnes were traded. High Range pepper was traded at ₹395-405 a kg; Pulpally and Bathery (Wayanad) pepper went for ₹385-390. Imported pepper fetched ₹375-380. Spot prices fell by ₹200 a quintal to ₹38,800 (ungarbled) and ₹40,800 (garbled). Export prices were at $6525 a tonne c&f for Europe and $6,775 for the US.
