The arrival of turmeric to Erode markets increased to 7,200 bags (including 3,000 bags of old turmeric). The traders purchased all the new turmeric, besides 1,000 bags of old turmeric. Only 60 per cent of the arrivals were sold. The hybrid turmeric lost ₹100 a quintal and the local turmeric too was down ₹100. At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association, the Salem Hybrid (finger) was sold at ₹5,792-8,526; root variety at ₹5,230-7,312. The (new) finger turmeric went for ₹6,854-8,309; root variety fetched ₹6,109-7,249. Of the arrival of 4,896 bags, 2,649 were sold.
