Spot turmeric prices decreased at the markets in Erode on account of poor upcountry demand and arrival of medium quality produce. Arrivals were at 2,000 bags and 65 per cent of them were sold. Regarding the price, finger variety lost ₹400 a quintal at Erode Turmeric Merchants Association and Erode Cooperative Marketing Society. At the Regulated Marketing Committee, price of the finger turmeric was down by ₹270. Similarly, the price of root variety decreased by ₹300. At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association Sales yard, the finger turmeric was sold at ₹5,856-8,191 a quintal, root variety was sold at ₹5,566-7,779 a quintal. Of the arrival of 1,248 bags, only 273 bags were sold due to quality. At the Regulated Marketing Committee, the finger turmeric was sold at ₹7,069-8,350 a quintal, root variety was sold at ₹6,689-7,489 a quintal. All the 340 bags of turmeric arrived for sale were sold.
At the Erode Cooperative Marketing Society, finger turmeric was sold at ₹7,079-7,899 a quintal, root variety was sold at ₹6,169-6,939.
