Homedale Tea Factory created a new price record at Sale No: 40 of the auctions of Coonoor Tea Trade Association. Its Red Dust tea, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, was bought by Oswal Tea Traders for ₹264 a kg topping both the Dust and CTC tea markets. Besides, this was the highest price fetched by the factory ever since it started manufacturing 65 years ago.
In the CTC leaf tea auctions, Darmona Estate tea, auctioned by J Thomas and Co. P Ltd., topped at ₹209, followed by Homedale Estate tea, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers at ₹206. Among orthodox teas, Chamraj topped at ₹270 a kg. Around 83 per cent of the offer was sold with the average prices remaining flat at around ₹80/kg.
