After China and Ukraine, India will host the 3rd International Sunflower Seed and Oil Conference (ISSOC) 2019 on July 19 and 20 in Mumbai, hosted by the Solvent Extractors’ Association of India (SEA).
The conference will see participation from industry leaders, experts, researchers, and government representatives from across the world.
Union Commerce & Industry Minister Piyush Goyal is likely to be the Chief Guest and Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, will preside over the Inaugural function.
India is the largest importer of sunflower oil with imports of about 2.8 million tonnes. Global imports of sunflower oil are around 9.6 million tonnes.
The International Sunflower Oil Association (ISOA) was established in 2015 in Rome by National Associations and Companies from China, Ukraine, Russia, Hungary, Spain and Argentina.
It aims to encourage and promote better communications among sunflower oil producers, industry groups, academic researchers and local governments, and to enhance sunflower oil value addition and to enlarge the field of its commercial applications.
Global sunflower seed production in 2018-19 is estimated to be 51.41 million tonnes, sunflower oil at 19.45 million tonnes and sunflower meal at 20.90 million tonnes.
Over 300 delegates from across the world with interests in sunflower seed, oil and meal are expected to attend this Conference in Mumbai.
