Karnataka sellers, in a bid to compete with sellers of cheap imported pepper, were offering their produce at ₹350 a kg plus transportation cost. Availability of imported pepper at lower rates is aiding the price fall daily in the spot market, market sources told Business Line . Rajkumari pepper was traded at ₹380 a kg, while the High Range material went for ₹375. Pulpally and Bathery pepper went for ₹365. Sri Lankan mixed pepper was being traded at ₹355.Spot prices fell further by ₹200 a quintal to ₹36,800 (ungarbled) and ₹38,800 (garbled). Export prices were at $6,200 a tonne c&f for Europe and $6,450for the US.
