Showing a decline in exports of world famous Kashmiri walnuts, Jammu and Kashmir Government on Friday said that 14,85,581 kg of walnuts were exported to four countries from the state – the US, the UK, the UAE and Nepal – during 2009-10.
Replying to a question in the Assembly, the Minister for Horticulture, Mr Sham Lal Sharma, said that in 2008-09, 16,51,808 kg of walnuts were exported to these four countries. The highest, 8,95,994 kg, was exported to the UK in 2009-10.
