An anticipated low-pressure area has formed over North Bay of Bengal, and has been put under watch for intensification as a depression over the next two days. It is then forecast to move towards the Bangladesh coast, India Met Department (IMD) said, though it may later come back across the border to Indian territory.

MONSOON ADVANCES

Under the influence of the 'low,' the monsoon has covered entire Goa, Karnataka and and Telangana; most parts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh; Rayalaseema; some parts of South Konkan, South Madhya Maharashtra, Marathawada, Vidarbha, South Chhattisgarh and South Odisha.

The northern limit of monsoon passed Ratnagiri, Solapur, Nanded, Adilabad, Bailadila, Malkangiri, Kalingapatnam, Agartala, Lumding, and North Lakhimpur.

Conditions are favourable for its advance into some more parts of Maharashtra, (including Mumbai), Chhattisgarh, Odisha and remaining parts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh anytime from now.

Next, it may enter most remaining parts of Maharashtra; some parts of South Gujarat region; southern parts of Madhya Pradesh; some more parts of Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and remaining parts of the North-Eastern States.

Heavy to very heavy rain at a few places have been forecast over Konkan, Goa and Madhya Maharashtra today with extremely heavy rain at isolated places.

Heavy to very heavy rain is likely over Coastal Karnataka; heavy over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Vidharbha, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Interior Karnataka and Kerala.

HEAVY RAIN, HIGH WINDS

Squally winds with speeds reaching 40-50 km/hr gusting to 60 km/hr are likely today along along and off Kerala-Karnataka-Maharashtra coasts, Andaman & Nicobar Islands and also over the North Bay.

The sea condition is likely to be rough to very rough over East-Central, West-Central and South-West

Arabian Sea and North Bay of Bengal. Fishermen are advised not to venture into these areas.

The forecast for tomorrow says heavy to very heavy rain at a few places over Konkan & Goa and at isolated places over Odisha and Coastal Karnataka; heavy at isolated places over Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Madhya Maharashtra, North Interior Karnataka and Kerala.
