Recent trend towards health and fitness has driven tea export firm Madhu Jayanti International Ltd (MJIL) to introduce its tea and herbal brands in Indian market soon.
“Such products are already on-shelf in markets such as Europe” said Mr. Sunil Parikh, Indian head, TE-A-ME Teas Ltd here on Friday.
Talking to presspersons here during launch of its exclusive “TE-A-ME” flavour station at Vivanta by Taj in the city on Friday, Mr. Parikh said that the tea bag market in the country is expected to grow into a ₹1,000- ₹1,200 crore category in next 5-7 years.
Replicating its success in Russian and other countries, makers and suppliers of TE-A-ME brand of tea MJIL is confident that India’s consumption pattern would shift to tea bags.
Launched in 2014, this brand of tea is available in 20 different varieties in the country, each having a unique and gustative appeal, said Mr. Parikh.
The brand, he said, aims to connect to the health conscious youth and has already spread across 13 cities across the country and is present in most of the top retail stores.
Speaking about the exports, he, said beginning in 1988 with just two countries, the MJIL has extended its reach to 42 countries with around 100 different varieties.
Russia, the second largest tea drinking country, is its major market followed by Europe, Australia, Middle East and very recently it has reached South African countries where it claims a double digit growth.
