A mixed trend persisted for almost all varieties of tea at the Kochi tea auction. In the dust category, Cochin Sale No. 2, the quantity on offer in the CTC grades was 11,89,500 kg.

High-priced teas were barely steady and tended to ease as the sale progressed and witnessed some withdrawals. Medium/plainer teas were fully firm to dearer following quality.

The quantity on offer in the orthodox grades was 16,500 kg and the market for primary grades remained steady. Others were irregular and lower. The bulk of the offerings was absorbed by upcountry buyers and exporters were selective.

In the best CTC dusts, PD varieties fetched prices between Rs 101/110, RD grades quoted Rs 105/111, SRD ruled at Rs 107/114 and SFD stood at Rs 107/115.

The leaf sale also witnessed a mixed trend and the quantity on offer in the Orthodox varieties was 1,48,500 kg. Select varieties of Niligiri teas were barely steady. Others were irregular and tended to ease.

Medium tippy grades were steady to firm and sometimes dearer. Bolder brokens and whole leaf teas were irregular and tended to ease. Corresponding Fannings were fully firm.

The quantity on offer in the CTC leaf was 1,16,500 kg and the market for good liquoring brokens and Fannings was fully firm to dearer by Rs 2 to Rs 3 and sometimes more. Others were irregular and sometimes tending lower.

In the dust category, Injipara (Prm.) SRD grades quoted the best price of Rs 145, followed by Injipara (Prm.) RD at Rs 141. In the leaf varieties, Pascoes Hyson Green Tea fetched the best price of Rs 340, followed by Chamraj FOP-Sup Green Tea at Rs 336.
