A mixed trend persisted for almost all varieties at the Kochi tea auction. In Cochin Sale No. 8, the quantity on offer in the CTC grades was 9,45,500 kg.
The demand for good liquoring teas was better while for plainer varieties it was fair. The market for good liquoring teas was dearer by Rs 2 to Rs 3 and sometimes more especially for grainier varieties as the sale progressed.
Others were steady to sometimes dearer by Re 1 to Rs 3. Plainer teas were irregular and barely steady to sometimes lower.
Of the quantity of 11,000 kg on offer in the Orthodox grades, the market remained barely steady.
In the best CTC dusts, FD varieties quoted the best prices of Rs 105/116, RD grades ruled at Rs 108/143, SRD stood at Rs 111/149 while SFD at Rs 112/147.
The leaf sale also witnessed a mixed trend and the quantity on offer in the Orthodox grades was 154,000 kg. The demand for good teas was better while others remained fair.
The market for good liquoring Nilgiri Brokens and whole leaf was higher with longer margins of Rs 10 to Rs 20. It sometimes sold at attractive prices and absorbed by straight line exporters.
Highgrown Fannings were irregular, while lower medium well made clean black teas remained steady to firm. Others were irregular, lower and witnessed heavy withdrawals. Medium Fannings remained steady.
Of the quantity of 87,500 kg on offer in the CTC grades, the market for good liquoring all grades were dearer by Rs 2 to Rs 4 and sometimes more. Others remained steady while plainer varieties were irregular and lower.
In the dust varieties, Injipara (Prm) SRD varieties fetched the best prices of Rs 149 followed by Injipara (Prm) SFD at Rs 147. In the leaf grades, Chamraj FOP quoted the best prices of Rs 401 followed by Chamraj Green FOP at Rs 400.
