The monsoon has arrived in most parts of Maharashtra except in the Khandesh region. The rainfall recorded till June 19 is 104 mm, which is 74% of the average. Around the same time last year, the rainfall was 109% of the average.
On a district-wise basis, the districts of Buldhana, Yavatmal, Akola and Amravati have received over 100% rain, while Sindhdurg, Ratnagiri, Wardha and Washim have got 80-100% rain. Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Pune, Aurangabad, Jalna, Beed, Osmanabadand, Gadchiroli have got less than 40% rain.
Sowing has been completed on 2.24 lakh hectares, which is around 2% of the total 132.34 lakh hectares under kharif cultivation.
