New pepper from Kerala’s Wayanad district has started trickling in on Monday. Harvesting has begun in the district and 10 tonnes of the new crop from Pulpally and Bathery arrived and were traded at ₹420-422 a kg, trade sources told Business Line .
They said 12 tonnes of High Range pepper went for ₹430 a kg. Thus, on the terminal market, 22 tonnes of pepper were traded today.
Spot prices moved up further by ₹100 a quintal to ₹41,900 (ungarbled) and ₹43,900 (garbled).
Export prices were at $7,100 a tonne c&f for Europe and $7,350 for the US.
