Spot pepper gained on Monday onbuying support from the domestic market. On the terminal market, 33 tonnes mainly from the high ranges and the Wayanad district were traded today. Of the high range material, Rajkumari pepper was traded at ₹405 a kg and the rest went for ₹400 . Pulpally and Bathery pepper was sold at ₹395 . Sellers from the plains were asking for ₹390 but the buyers were offering at ₹375-380 a kg. Spot prices moved up by ₹200 a quintal to close at ₹38,800 (ungarbled) and ₹40,800 (garbled) a quintal. Export prices were at $6,575 a tonne c&f for Europe and $6,825 a tonne c&f for the US.
