Spot pepper prices moved up further on Wednesday on tight availability of the indigenous produce in the primary markets.
On the terminal market 10 tonnes of high range pepper were traded at ₹430 a kg. Further, sellers were at ₹435 a kg but buyers were at ₹430 a kg. Three tonnes of imported pepper from the plains went for ₹410 a kg,
Meanwhile, Coorg pepper 500 GL was being offered at ₹400 a kg, trade sources told Business Line . Spot prices gained further by ₹200 a quintal to close at ₹41,400 (ungarbled) and ₹43,400 (garbled) a quintal. Indian export prices also moved up to $7,075 a tonne c&f for Europe and $7,325 a tonne c&f for the US.
