The prices of almost all varieties of tea at the Kochi tea auction witnessed a declining trend. In Cochin Sale No.4 held last week, the quantity on offer in the CTC dust category was 12,01,500 kg.
The market opened on an easier note. As the sale progressed, good liquoring teas sold around last levels while others were irregular and lower by Re 1 to Rs 3.
The quantity on offer in the Orthodox dust was 17,500 kg. The market remained barely steady and bulk of the offerings was absorbed by exporters, according to auctioneers Forbes, Ewart and Figgis Pvt Ltd.
In the best CTC dusts, PD varieties quoted prices between Rs 101/106, RD grades fetched Rs 103/112, SRD ruled at Rs 102/112 and SFD stood at Rs 104/113.
The demand for leaf category teas was also sluggish and the quantity on offer in Orthodox grades was 206,500 kg. The market for select best Nilgiri brokens and whole leaf barely remained steady. Others were irregular and lower, while corresponding Fannings tended to ease.

The quantity on offer in the leaf grades was 97,500 kg. Select best sold around last levels, while others were irregular and lower by Rs 2 to Rs 3 and sometimes more.
In the dust category, Injipara (Prm.) SRD quoted the best prices of Rs 139 followed by Injipara (Prm) RD at Rs 136. In the leaf grades, Chamraj OP-Delight Green tea fetched the best prices of Rs 426 followed by Chamraj OP at Rs 321.
