SABMiller, makers of beer brands such as Haywards, Knock Out, Royal Challenge, Miller High Life and Indus Pride, is partnering with International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (Icrisat) to explore the use of treated waste water from its plants to increase agricultural productivity.
Announcing the partnership here on Tuesday, SABMiller India, the arm of SABMiller PLC, said the project, Water4Crops-India, led by Suhas P Wani, Assistant Research Programme Director, Resilient Dryland Systems, Icrisat, would be a mirror of the European Union’s Water4Crops project consortium.
The four-year Indo-European collaborative project is co-funded by India’s Department of Biotechnology and the European Commission with total funding of €12 million, it said in a release.
