A fresh western disturbance, though not as big in size as predecessor, will hit western Himalayan region from Friday.
Thundershowers may break out over parts of West and Central India from Tuesday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
RAIN FOR SOUTH
US forecasts indicated that southern peninsula too may get showers from easterly wave activity across the Bay of Bengal. Kerala, Tamil Nadu, south interior Karnataka and parts of Telangana re expected to benefit. This is even as a feeble easterly activity continues to impact weather in the peninsula dropping rain at some places.
The IMD said Vidarbha, north interior Karnataka, Chhattisgarh and Telangana received rain during 24 hours ending in the morning. Significant amounts of rainfall was recorded (in cm) from Gulbarga-3; Washim, Mahabubnagar and Periculam-2 each; and Idukki-1.
FOG TO RETURN
Thundershowers would occur at one or two places Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Lakshadweep for next two days as well. Extended forecasts through next week said that thundershowers may lash parts of peninsular India.
In the North, fog conditions are expected to return to Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, north Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh during the morning hours during next three days. Thundershowers have been forecast for Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Sikkim on Saturday and North-eastern States during next two days.
COLD IN EAST
Minimum (night) temperatures may fall by 2-4 deg Celsius over Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and West Bengal. These are the vey places which had warmed as the predecessor western disturbance steamed its way in. The disturbance has cleared this region also, bringing cold winds from North-West India into play.
Very light rainfall was recorded over east Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bihar and Odisha during 24 hours ending this morning.
