Starbucks, which entered India in 2012 with an equal joint venture with Tata Global Beverages, is adding the Teavana brand of teas to its menu.
It has created an Indian-specific offering under the name of ‘India Spice Majestic Blend’ for the domestic market. Sumitra Ghosh, CEO, Tata Starbucks, said: “We expect to double our tea sales in India with the launch of Teavana and expect Starbucks to break even soon.
Teavana would be integrated into our existing 88 stores and we will evaluate if we want to launch our cafes later’’. Teavana is a 20-year-old brand and was acquired by Starbucks globally. It has tea cafes only in the US.
