Sugar market witnessed a firm trend as activities at upper mill level continued to be higher. Prices at Maharashtra’s mills were up ₹10-20 a quintal which lifted prices at Vashi market by ₹5-10. .
Sources said since last week demand at upper mill level continued to be higher as stockists have started building fresh inventory. Arrivals were at 60-61 truck loads and local dispatches were 59-60 loads. On Monday evening, 15-17 mills offered tenders and sold over 60,000 bags at ₹2,000-2,130 (1,980-2,120) for S-grade and ₹2,140-2,240 (2,130-2,220) for M-grade.
The Bombay Sugar Merchants Association’s spot rates: S-grade ₹2,162-2,236 (2,162-2,256) and M-grade ₹2,242-2,392 (2,236-2,382). Naka delivery rates: S-grade ₹2,150-2,180 (2,150-2,180) and M-grade ₹2,240-2,380 (2,240-2,380).
