The Tamilnadu Foodgrains Merchants Association (TFMA) has welcomed the announcement by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Ms J. Jayalalithaa, to extend a subsidy of Rs 10,000/acre to farmers cultivating sugar cane crop in the State.
Mr S.V.S.S. Velshankar, Secretary, TFMA, in a statement here said that the grant of the subsidy was a great relief to farmers who were not getting fair and remunerative price for their sugarcane and help arrest the dwindling interest in agriculture.
