Subdued demand from major blenders dragged the prices of several tea varieties at Kochi auctions.
The market for good liquoring medium teas in CTC dust was steady to firm and sometimes dearer. Same was the trend for plainer teas, too. In sale No 43, high-price teas opened with a barely steady market. It remained irregular and tended lower towards the close of the sale and witnessed a lot of withdrawals.
The quantity on offer in orthodox dust was 18,500 kg and exporters absorbed bulk of the sale.
In Cochin CTC dust quotation, good varieties fetched ₹105-160 a kg, medium grades quoted ₹81-120 and plain grades stood at ₹66-91.
In the leaf category, the market for select best Nilgiri brokens and whole-leaf in orthodox grades tended to ease. The quantity on offer was 2,57,000 kg.
