Pepper prices continued to rise on Tuesday following shrinkage in arrivals at the terminal market.
As the prices keep rising the sellers were quoting higher rates. High range sellers were not ready to sell below ₹430 a kg.
Meanwhile, primary market dealers were buying from the doorsteps of the growers at terminal market prices on cash and carry in Central Kerala and selling to inter-state dealers who were despatching the consignments by rail to upcountry markets, trade sources told Business Line .
Eight tonnes were traded on the terminal market, mostlyfrom the plains mixed with Sri Lankan pepper, at ₹410 a kg.
Spot prices moved up by ₹200 a quintal to close at ₹41,200 (ungarbled) and ₹43,200 (garbled) a quintal.
Indian export prices were at $7,025 a tonne c&f for Europe and $7,275 a tonne c&f for the US.
