Heavy rains lashed many parts of Tamil Nadu as a trough of low pressure extending from Gulf of Mannar to Andhra Pradesh today brought copious rains to various districts in the state.
Chennai received 52.5 mm rain. The weather office forecast more rains on Wednesday and Thursday.
“Following the trough of low pressure, heavy to very heavy rains were forecast for coastal and interior districts even as they received copious rains,” Mr S.R. Ramanan, Deputy Director General of Meteorology, Regional Meteorological Centre, said.
The Met office has forecast thunderstorm with rain in Chennai tomorrow.
Overnight rains continued to lash Chennai and suburbs with office-goers in the morning facing difficulty. Low-lying areas were inundated following the downpour resulting in slow movement of traffic in many areas.
