Spot turmeric prices at Erode markets decreased by ₹1,000 a quintal in two days.
“The price of the turmeric decreased by ₹200-300 on Tuesday. The price has fetched ₹10,500 and above during the last week. But this week the price decreased and in two days it fallen down by ₹1,000. Because of this steep decrease very few farmers have brought their turmeric for sale. Only 3,000 bags arrived on Tuesday for sale, of this only 50 per cent stocks were sold,” said RKV Ravishankar, President, Erode Turmeric Merchants Association.
The price of the finger turmeric was down by ₹400 a quintal in the Regulated Market Committee and the root variety by ₹200.
At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association, the finger turmeric was sold at ₹6,559-10,109 a quintal; the root variety at ₹6,059-9,239. Of the arrival of 1,036 bags, 510 were traded.
