A volume of 11.77 lakh kg has been catalogued for Sale No: 36 of the auction of Coonoor Tea Trade Association which will conclude on Friday. This is some 29,000 kg less than last week’s offer. Of this, 7.96 lakh kg belongs to leaf grades and 3.81 lakh kg, dust grade. As much as 10.44 lakh kg belongs to CTC variety and only 1.33 lakh kg, orthodox variety. In the leaf counter, only 87,000 kg belongs to orthodox while 7.09 lakh kg, CTC. Among the dusts, only 46,000 kg belongs to orthodox while 3.35 lakh kg, CTC. Homedale Estate’s Pekoe Dust, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped the Dust tea auction and the entire CTC market last week when Shreeji Traders bought it for ₹215 a kg. Red Dust of Homedale Estate, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, followed it at ₹200. In the CTC Leaf tea auction, Homedale Estate’s Broken Pekoe, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped at ₹205 a kg.
