All Narayana Hrudayalaya hospitals will soon have ‘wellness centres' to offer patients “holistic care” and to train them in managing wellness.
Dr Devi Shetty, Chairman of Narayana Hrudayalaya, in collaboration with Ms Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Chairman and Managing Director, Biocon Group, and Mr Sam Pitroda, Chairman, National Innovation Council, propose to set up ‘Wellness centres' at all Narayana Hrudayalaya hospitals.
The company proposes to pilot the concept in their hospital in Bangalore before expanding the operations.
“There is a need for integrating modern medicine with herbal and ayurvedic treatments and provide combined care,” Ms Shaw said, adding that while modern medicine would help in cure of illnesses, yoga and herbal medicine helps in maintaining wellness.
The centres will counsel patients on how to take care of their heath post-medical treatment, and will also help patients change their lifestyle under medical supervision to handle lifestyle diseases such as hypertension.
A range of therapies including music therapy, meditation and yoga, along with herbal and ayurvedic medication will be administered to patients at the wellness centre.
According to Dr Shetty, all patients will be monitored before and after they undergo treatment at the wellness centre to ensure convalescence time is reduced.
