India is a land of limitless opportunities and non-resident Indians based in the United Arab Emirates should make full use of them through more investments, Commerce and Iindustry Minister Anand Sharma has said.

Infrastructure would continue to be built in India and more would be created, Sharma told a select group of Indian businessmen at a meeting in Dubai today.

Sharma, who is on his second official visit to Dubai, said infrastructure development in China had plateaued and NRIs must focus attention on infrastructure development in India.

He came down heavily on a “partisan Opposition” for their unfounded pessimism over the economic prospects of the country.

Stating that the fundamentals of the Indian economy were strong, Sharma said senior leaders of political parties should show greater maturity and responsibility in their assessment of economic policies.

Rather than focus on the many positives of the country, many leaders were looking to highlight the negatives, he rued.

Sharma later said he sees the Indian economy growing at not less than 5.5 per cent this fiscal despite the tough global economic environment.

For 2013-14, the Indian economy would grow at at least 6.5 per cent, he said.
