The Finance Ministry has imposed a definitive anti-dumping duty on acetone imports from South Korea.
Acetone is a basic organic chemical used in the manufacture of bulk pharmaceuticals, agro-chemicals, dyestuffs, certain explosives, and downstream chemicals. It is also used in the manufacture of certain rubber chemicals.
Hindustan Organic Chemical Ltd, supported by S I Group India, had filed the petition seeking continued imposition of anti-dumping duty on acetone imports from South Korea.
Based on the recommendation of the Designated Authority in the Commerce Ministry, the revenue department has now imposed anti-dumping duty of $79.75 per tonne of acetone imports from South Korea.
The anti-dumping duty will be valid for a period of five years.
