The blazing heatwave in Andhra Pradesh today claimed lives of 20 more persons, taking the death toll to 182 in the state.
As per information available from different districts till 5 PM, 20 more people lost their lives today due to heatwave, a senior official of disaster management department said.
Prakasam district in AP has recorded the maximum deaths of 57, he said, adding, reports from some districts are still being compiled.
162 people had died due to heatwave across the state as per information available till 10 PM last night, he added.
The toll pertains to the period from May 18 till this evening for Andhra Pradesh, officials said.
According to India Meteorological department, severe heatwave conditions are expected to continue till Monday in nine districts of Andhra Pradesh.
