The Supreme Court on Wednesday stayed the proceedings in the Delhi High Court against the bail granted to Mr R.K. Chandolia, an accused in the 2G spectrum case. He was the Private Secretary to the former Telecom Minister, Mr A. Raja. The apex court said the interim order passed by the High Court on December 2 shall remain stayed till a bench headed by Mr Justice Mr G.S. Singhvi — which had granted bail to five top corporate executives who are accused in the case and is hearing the 2G case — takes a decision on the petition of Mr Chandolia.

The High Court had stayed the Special Court's order granting bail to Mr Chandolia after taking suo motu cognisance of certain reports which stated that granting bail to Mr Chandolia would impact the bail plea of former Telecom Secretary and accused Mr Siddharth Behura. The High Court had reserved its order on Mr Behura's bail application. Meanwhile, following the apex court's stay on its order, the High Court on Wednesday deferred till January 5 its decision to examine the order of the Special Court granting bail to Mr Chandolia. The High Court's stay order was challenged by Mr Chandolia before the apex court.
