The Government is all set to approve three more National Manufacturing and Investment Zones (NMIZ).
If they get the green signal, the number of NMIZs will go up to 12 .
Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma announced that two NMIZs are to be set up in Karnataka and the third in Andhra Pradesh.
The approvals will be given after local level requirements are fulfilled.
Besides, an application from Kerala is under consideration.
This is because there is also a demand for a special dispensation from the minimum land size required for setting up an NMIZ.
“These NMIZs are for the future. These will be transformational. Now the effort is to start 12 NMIZs,” Sharma added.
